The Traveling Wilburys were a British-American supergroup active from 1988 to 1991, featuring Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. Formed during sessions for Harrison’s 1987 album, they created the hit “Handle with Care,” leading to their debut album, Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1, a critical and commercial success. Following Orbison’s death, they released Vol. 3 in 1990. Though Harrison planned more albums, the group became dormant after 1991. Harrison died in 2001 and Petty in 2017, leaving Dylan and Lynne as the surviving members. Their albums were reissued in 2007.

In memory of Hairy Biker Dave Myers, a large convoy of motorcycles will travel through the south of the county this weekend, from London to Barrow-In-Furness for memorial events. With increased motorcycle traffic around Cumbria during Dave Day and following days, please take extra time to look, especially at junctions, thoroughly check blind spots before maneuvering, keep your distance as motorcycles stop quicker than larger vehicles, and pass carefully, giving slow-moving bikes plenty of room. Additionally, expect delays due to the Arla Great North Swim at Windermere, impacting traffic from Junction 36 M6 and along the A590 to Barrow-In-Furness.
